Global Debt Q1 - 2011

Financials account for 55% of 2011 DCM Activity – With activity flat compared to this time last year, debt capital markets activity in the financial sector totaled $873.9 billion during first quarter 2011, accounting for 55% of all new issues this quarter.  High technology debt capital markets activity saw the strongest year-over-year growth with a 102% increase over last quarter while new issues in the consumer staples and materials sectors saw year-over-year declines of 36% and 18%, respectively.  Average deal size in the telecommunications sector led all industries during first quarter 2011, with the average deal totaling $935 million. - Thomson Reuters
