Frequently Asked Question

General FAQ
    • What are the reviews?
    • These are reviews submitted anonymously by actual employees of that company. The reviews provide an insider view of everything in a company from ethical practices, financial stability and overall employee satisfaction - right down to vacation packages and compensation.
    • Why/How would I use this site?
    • There are so many reasons to use the site it is hard to list them all, but please see our abridged answers broken down by the groups who are largely using the site.

Employers – You can read and submit anonymous reviews about your company, keep up on current industry events, salaries and popular rankings.  This is a great tool to ensure employee satisfaction, a competitive edge, and it’s always good to know who else is hiring.

Job Seekers/ Recruiters - Not only do we have very exclusive job postings but much like someone already employed in finance, keeping up with financial trends and the current industry events, salaries and popular rankings will give you the upper hand. You can also read reviews about the company that are submitted by their own employees. Additionally, almost all of the companies within our site have a detailed section entitled “Hire Intelligence” which contains advice on getting hired by that company. It’s one of the many reasons having user submitted information is so helpful.

Financial Professional - Keeping up with financial trends is a way to remain competitive and fresh within your career. This is a good way to keep up on current events, salaries, popular industry rankings and it’s always good to know who is hiring.

Student – Find information on the financial sectors that may not be taught in a classroom, do research for projects, get in the habit of following industry trends before moving into the professional world, seek internships, and stay informed on who is hiring.
    • How often do you update your site?
    • We update information and validate user entries on the site literally every single day and more than once a day…in fact we pretty much update it all day every day.  We want to share the freshest information with you as possible.
    • Is all of your information still relevant/There are no dates on the salaries or reports, how do we know when they were added?
    • We maintain the site in a way that guarantees information is never older than a year.  The only thing past a year old you MAY find would be a news article, but those have dates on them and we feel older articles may help in looking at industry trends through the years.
    • Where do you get your information?
    • YOU! This is a user generated site. Users submit everything from contacts to company information. To read a detailed description please review the information about our Open Data Sources here, and if you go to our Terms of Use you will see a detailed breakdown of eligibility and proper use of our services that we enforce, as well as in our Privacy Policy, and if you still have questions, please review our Copyright Policy, as well.

    • How do you verify your information?
    • To ensure that community posts to Finbox are accurate and valid, we employ a third-party auditor responsible for confidentially, confirming the identity and company relationship of users posting salaries and reviews.  For questions, please see our Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, and Copyright Policy.
    • What makes your job search more exclusive than any other job search database?
    • Rather than only displaying the limited jobs of the employers and recruiting firms who have paid to post jobs, our research team collects and organizes all of the existing job sources (including the specialty niche sites, global mega job boards and company web portals) and captures every Hedge Fund, Private Equity, Investment Banking and Asset Management job. These combined job listings create a comprehensive list of up-to-date postings covering every corner of the financial services industry.  Having these jobs in one central location saves you time and gives you a competitive advantage.
    • Can I save my searches (ie: job or contacts) what do I do?
    • To save your searches you’ll see a small disk image with text that reads “Save to My Dashboard”, click it!

Similarly, to save an entire search you will see an identical icon that reads “Save This Search”.
*Currently this applies to Job Searches and Company Searches only.*

To access your saved searches, use “My Dashboard” which you’ll find in the right hand column of the site.

    • What do I do if I want to contribute information or see information that is inaccurate or outdated?
    • This is our favorite question to answer because it's just one of the ways you can become a part of this community and there are a number of things you can do here:

      - To contribute/edit a company overview you’ll see within the “company snapshot” a link at the top right of the box that reads “submit content updates for this company”, add whatever you would like.  We will then review the information to ensure its accuracy and publish it…or not.

      - You may also send a detailed email to - support@finbox.com

      - You may also fill out the form for feedback – this link can be found at the bottom of every page of the site.

      - You will also see to the top right of your screen your “Profile & Dashboard” below that is “My Shared Insight” – if you click on “My Shared Insight” and you’ll see all of the different options for adding your content and insight.

      - For Contacts, you will see “Edit/Update this Contact” below any contact you open, simply click “Edit/Update this Contact” and submit your edit/update and we will put it through our review process and publish...or not.

    • How do I edit/delete a post I’ve made?
    • We are working on this application right now. Once it is up and working you’ll need to login, go to your dashboard and click on the review you posted in order to view or edit.

In the mean time, you may always submit a new review and make note in the comment box “This is the correct review” so we know which one to post.

    • My contact information is on here and I want it removed...
    • You will see “Edit/Update this Contact” below any contact you open, simply click “Edit/Update this Contact” and submit your edit/update, or in this case state you would like it removed.

You may also email support@finbox.com to let them know you would like it removed.

    • How Do I cancel my subscription?
    • YOU’RE NOT ALLOWED!!  Just kidding, but we are sad to see you go and we welcome feedback about why you would like to cancel so we may better the site.

Send an email to admin@finbox.com including the email account you used when you originally signed up, as well as, your first and last name as they appear in your account.

    • How do you know the posts are really from employees of financial firms?
    • We require all of our users who post a salary or review to verify their account before their posts are shared with the community. Furthermore, to ensure the validity of posts, we employ a third-party auditor responsible for confidentially confirming the identity and company relationship of users posting salaries and reviews. This third party auditor is only provided the user's name and company name for the purpose of validation of identity and company relationship. See our Terms of Use. These measures, combined with an active community and our commitment to review every post before it appears on the site, allows us to have confidence that our information is from real employees.
    • Am I really anonymous when I post a review or salary?
    • You don't need to tell us your city, state or a specific identifiable title. If you believe that certian specific information might allow you to be identified, don't share that specific information. Use accurate, but generic, less identifiable information in place of specific information which could be used to deduce your identity. For example, if your official title is "Vice President of Content Management for Southern Florida Marketing Research," feel free to post something less identifiable, such as, "Vice President, Marketing" or "Vice President, Content Management."
    • What is “My Finbox”?
    • My Finbox is your wall where people can view and comment on all of your recent posts, ie: Jobs, News, or a blog you’ve written for the site. *Note: If you submit a review or salary it will never publish to your wall, and will always remain anonymous on the site.
    • Can I choose what shows up on My Finbox?
    • Yes, with the exception of blogs, reviews and salaries, any time you post to the site you will see an option at the bottom that reads “Attach my public profile with this post” and you may click yes or no.
*Salaries and reviews are automatically anonymous, blog posts are automatically public*

DirectMail FAQ
    • What is DirectMail?
    • DirectMail service allows you to easily find and connect with hundreds of thousands of other financial business professionals.   Depending on the contact's DirectMail settings they will receive your message directly in their email inbox and/or in their Finbox Message page.  Most users will receive your message in both their email and their Finbox.

When emails are sent directly to the recipient's email address, Finbox sends the email on your behalf, from your email address and to the recipient’s email address. This is done in a way that does not reveal the recipient's e-mail address to you unless they decide to respond via their personal email address.

    • How does a recipient respond to my DirectMail message?
    • The recipient can respond by simply replying to your DirectMail message via their Finbox Message page or via their own email system (if they are opted in to receive DirectMail messages to their email inbox) . Depending on your DirectMail settings, the response will come directly to you at your e-mail address and/or your Finbox Messages page.
    • Why do some contacts have DirectMail as an option and others do not?
    • We believe that any contact should have the option of being contacted via DirectMail and have provided contacts the option of Opting-Out.  Each DirectMail message sent to contacts offers the contact the option of opting out of receiving future DirectMails with one click.  This helps you know that the contacts receiving your messages actually want to receive them.

    • How do I send a DirectMail?
    • When viewing a specific contact with the DirectMail option, simply compose your e-mail and click "Send". Finbox will send an e-mail message to that member on your behalf.  The member will receive that message in their Finbox Messages as well as their email system (if they are opted in to receive DirectMail).

    • How do I view my DirectMail sent items?
    • Each DirectMail sent will be conveniently saved for you in two locations:

1.) In your Finbox Messages Sent Items page
2.) On the profile page of the member who you've sent a DirectMail you can see "Your Sent Emails" which supplies a number so you know exactly how many emails, if any, have been sent to that specific user.

We've added these links in multiple locations so that you can view all of your Sent Items in one location and also easily track the members you've contacted.
    • Does the recipient see my e-mail address?
    • Yes, but only if the recipient has opted-in to receive DirectMail via their email inbox.  If the user has not opted-in to receive DirectMail in their email inbox they will see your message when they view their Finbox Messages.   Finbox Messages do not show the user your email address.

Finbox allows users to opt-in to receive DirectMail directly to their email inbox so that they can reply directly and quickly to all messages.  Most users are opted in to recieve emails via their email inbox, so most users will see your email address when you send them a DirectMail.

    • How do I see the recipient's e-mail address?
    • A recipient can choose to share his or her e-mail address by responding directly to your EmailDirect. Finbox believes that professionals should be able to decide whether to share their direct e-mail information, so we do not display direct e-mail addresses.  Recipients are also able to opt-out of receiving DirectMail via their personal inbox with one click.

    • How many DirectMail messages can I send?
    • Basic Members can send up to ten (10) DirectMails per calendar month.  Premium Members are able to send up to fifty (50) DirectMails per month.  If you are signedin as a Basic Member and want to Upgrade to Premium, click here.

    • What can I write in my DirectMail?
    • We don't regulate DirectMail content, but your chances of getting a response dramatically increase if you follow a few guidelines:

      - Be concise. Explain who you are and why you're writing quickly and clearly.
      - Be professional. Your topic should be relevant to the person receiving the email. Don't get personal.
      - Be polite. Write the kind of letter you would want to receive from someone with an interesting business proposition or request.
